Take time to explore the award-winning AONB Northumberland coast by staying in one of our holiday cottages by the sea. With picturesque harbours, plentiful islands, traditional fishing villages, historic castles, fascinating wildlife and delicious seafood restaurants, Northumberland has all the right ingredients to make a wonderful holiday.  Whether you are ready for a relaxing coastal getaway, a family seaside holiday or a more activity packed holiday with friends, a holiday at the Northumberland coast has something for everyone.

Our handpicked collection of coastal holiday properties can be found dotted along the Northumberland coast in scenic fishing villages and towns such as Berwick-upon-Tweed, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Beadnell, Craster, Newton by the Sea, Warkworth and Amble. Many of our self-catering holiday cottages are within easy walking distance of the beautiful beaches with a selection also offering splendid sea views. Dogs are very welcome at many of our Northumberland cottages ensuring no one misses out on a well-deserved break!

Northumberland has an impressive number of castles, with more than any other county in the UK, many are visible from the Northumberland coastline. The impressive ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle can be reached on foot from the fishing village of Craster and it can also be seen from the nearby beaches of Embleton and Beadnell. The magnificent Bamburgh Castle stands proud overlooking the pretty village of Bamburgh and provides a dramatic backdrop to the beaches of Seahouses and Bamburgh. Lindisfarne Castle on Holy Island can be seen from miles around and is well worth a visit. Staying at St. Coombs Farmhouse on the island, gives you the opportunity to explore more of this historic island by day and enjoy the dark skies at night. The island has lots to see and places to visit with a nature reserve, abbey, a winery (where you can sample the locally produced Lindisfarne Mead) or try a cup of Pilgrims Coffee from the local coffee house and roastery. There are a couple of friendly local pub restaurants and some great cafes to try too. From the beaches surrounding the island, try seal spotting, always a lovely sight to see!.

There are many activities you can enjoy on your holiday at the Northumberland coast both on land and in the sea. In the sea, enjoy a range of watersports such as kayaking, windsurfing, paddle boarding and sailing. By the sea, simply relax on the beach with a picnic, try rock pooling, enjoy a refreshing walk or cycle ride along the coastal path, play a round of golf on one of the many Northumberland coastal courses, be eagle eyed with a spot of bird watching or experience the thrill of horse-riding along the shoreline before sampling some seafood delights in one of the many fantastic restaurants, or take home your catch of the day and cook up a tasty treat back at your holiday cottage.
