Alnwick Castle is a castle in Northumberland which is well worth a visit if you are staying in the Northumberland area this Spring or Summer

It isn’t just a great castle to explore, with a lot of history, but has many events taking place throughout the year which may well be of interest to you. To stay up to date, you can follow them on Twitter. The castle itself is magnificent and charming, with some perfect opportunities for photography or painting – if that’s your thing!
Some of the highlights include:

  • SANCTUARY FINE DINING – May 26th

If you really want a treat, you can experience a decadent three-course meal, in The Sanctuary at the Castle restaurant. This takes place on Saturday 26th May at a cost of £35 per person. You need to reserve by calling 01665 511 086 or emailing events@alnwickcastle.com. It really is a great evening and perfect for a romantic couple or friends wanting to experience something a little different.

  • MADNESS – July 14th

Fans of the legendary group can’t wait to attend this event as the band announce an exclusive four-date tour of UK stately homes - including of course, a trip to Alnwick Castle. You can get tickets from www.ticketmaster.co.uk. The director Peter Taylor said: “Madness are a Great British institution who remain one of the best live acts around… We are now delighted to be presenting their four-date stately home tour and look forward to what will be a mad summer with these guys. All four venues are beautiful properties and to close the tour in the majestic surroundings of Alnwick Castle will be incredible.”

  • TOM JONES - July 13th

It isn’t just Madness you can expect to see at this magnificent venue. Music legend Tom Jones is to play here, too. You can get tickets on ticketmaster – there might be a few left available or some which are released nearer the date. Fans can expect a stunning set-list which is based on a career spanning many decades. Director Peter Taylor said: “Tom is a true music legend and I’m delighted we are once again working with him in 2018. His shows are incredible and the crowds absolutely adore him.”

  • SHAKESPEARE – July 10/11

On July 10th and 11th, Shakespeare lovers can experience two of the most iconic Shakespeare plays against the castle backdrop. Hamlet - Tuesday the 10th of July and A Midsummer Night's Dream - Wednesday the 11th of July.
Gates will open at 6pm, and the performance start at 7pm. This is an outside performance - so come prepared for whatever the weather! Audience members can bring their own chairs and cushions or picnic blankets if they like.
