Reviews

As the saying goes, "Practically perfect in every way" a real joy.

Mr Chris A,

Foxgloves is a very high quality property in a lovely location. We were very impressed by the standard of cleanliness when we arrived and the kitchen is very well equipped. The furnishings are also very good and the there is plenty of space for five (5) adults All in all, a very good stay and we would book again.

Mr Kevin J,

Lovely newly renovated house , very well thought and equipped. Good quality beds, very Well located to discover the region. Could not hope for more (and I am a difficult customer to please...).

Previous Customer,

Cottage was perfect - one of the best equipped and most comfortable cottages we have stayed in in over 15 years

Mr Anthony H,

Location

Newton-by-the Sea

Newton-by-the Sea is a two part village, with High Newton-by-the-Sea being home to the well-known Joiner's Arms gastropub, just a short stroll from three of the best beaches on the stunning Northumberland coast. The Ship Inn at nearby Low Newton has been voted by The Times as one of the best coastal pubs in the country, serving locally caught seafood and home grown produce as well as a selection of real ales from its on-site microbrewery.

The nearby village of Embleton has a small shop/post office, petrol station, golf club, and three pubs. Slightly farther to the south is the fishing village of Craster, where the Jolly Fisherman pub provides good food, and there is a coastal walk to the imposing Dunstanburgh Castle.

Seahouses is the nearest town, just six miles away, a bustling seaside town with a working harbour and a fish smokery in the old quarter. There are lots of shops, restaurants and gift shops, as well the best fish and chips for miles. There is also St Aiden's beach, which has views of Bamburgh Castle in the distance. Bamburgh, a few miles farther north, is a quaint village that has lots to offer in term of old-world charm and history, and regularly features on film and TV.  Inland, 20 minutes away, is the market town of Alnwick, famous for its castle and garden, where you will find a wide variety of shops, supermarkets, places to eat and other services.  A regular local bus service joins Alnwick and the coastal villages, including High Newton-by-the-Sea, so it is possible to walk the coastal path without needing a car.
