Reviews

Cherry Blossom cottage is warm and cosy, beautifully decorated and well equipped. A generous welcome pack awaited our arrival which was appreciated. The weather was wild and windy during our visit and we experienced a very short power cut - we received a kind courtesy call from the team at Original Cottages to check-in with us. The cottage is set in an open plan complex of cottages with gravelled driveway, shared outdoor spaces and borders an adjoining farmers field with sheep. The nearby village of Lucker has a lovely pub The Apple Inn offering a warm welcome and good food

Mrs H,

We chose Cherry Blossom for our recent trip because it was in exactly the right location for the activities we were planning, and it "looked nice". It turned out to be more than that, and we are already planning to come back. Great location, very quiet and tucked away but a stones throw from main road access. The cottage itself is delightful, very homely, spotless, and very well equipped to an exceptionally high standard. Absolutely everything you could want, and more, and everything about the place is high quality. It really did not feel like a holiday cottage, but like home. Great for a couple or family with small kids. Compact, but so well laid out, and we really appreciated the allocated parking. What a find.

Mrs A,

Great location for touring Northumberland and only a 10 to 15 minute drive from Bamburgh, Seahouses and Beadnell. Fabulous beaches for walking although people with mobility difficulties can face challenges accessing beach areas. Beadnell and Low Newton on Sea probably most accessible. Purdy Lodge is 2 mins in the car or within walking distance (so long as you are careful with traffic as no pavements). The Lodge offers nice meals and there is an attached 24hr cafe with a range of snacks and hot meals as well as breakfast. The cottages are very easy to find off the main A1 but are very quiet so no noise disturbance. Equipment and games help make evenings entertaining and we appreciated the very full welcome pack, the cleaning starter kit and toiletries.

Mrs M,

The property was beautiful, everything was very clean and of a good quality, welcome pack was lovely and the communication through text and e mail very good . Only one tiny thing was an enclosed garden would of been good so dogs can go out , but apart from that would highly recommend

Mrs A,

Cherry Blossom cottage is in a lovely location only a few miles from Bamburgh Castle and the coastal town of Seahouses. The cottage was very comfortable and the staff at Holiday Cottages were very helpful. One day we returned to the cottage about 1700 and found that there was a power cut in the local area. I called Holiday Cottages and Tilly, the on call representative, called to check that everything was ok. When we found that we needed additional lighting she popped in about 30 minutes later and dropped off several torches to help us through the power cut. We appreciated her help.

Mr John S,

Location

Bamburgh & Surrounding Area

There’s something to appeal to everyone in and around the village of Bamburgh. The beach is popular with dog walkers,  horse riders, rockpoolers and kite surfers. And there are some beautiful coastal walks - try  Bamburgh to Waren Mill at low tide.

Explore the ancient castle and its grounds (outside spaces are dog friendly) or head to the RNLI Grace Darling Museum to find out how a young local woman and her father saved the lives of stranded survivors of a wrecked steamship. You can even see the boat they used for the daring rescue.

Keen golfers will love the Bamburgh Castle Golf Club as well as the many other good golf courses along this stretch of Northumbrian coast. And food-lovers are also well catered for. Try some of the locally sourced crab in a delicious sandwich, or head to R. Carter and Son butchers on Front Street for the renowned Bamburgh Banger sausages.

There are cafes, pubs and restaurants aplenty, including The Copper Kettle Tea Rooms, The Potted Lobster, The Castle Inn and The Victoria Hotel. Nearby Lucker also has a superb restaurant and cafe, The Apple Inn and The School House.
